I've connected my dell 2005fpw up to my satellite receiver via the s-video port. However there are horizontal white bands about 1.5 inches thick that continuously run up and down the monitor. At first I thought it may be the satellite receiver, but I connected a dvd player to the monitor with the same result. When I hook up the monitor to my graphics card through the s-video port there is no such banding problem. The receiver is approx. 20 feet away from the monitor and I figure the distance may be the problem but I doubt it. The cable works fine with other deveices such as a dvd player and a regular tv. The monitor appears to be the common culprit here. If anyone has any experience with this type of problem any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You are getting interference from something. Most likely the routing of the cable is taking it too near an A/C power source and causing interference.

Seems that whatever I do the interference wont go away. I turned off everything but the satellite receiver with no luck. Is there anything I can do to better shield this cable from interference?

I don't know if you can, but see if your auto adjust works when you have your receiver or dvd player plugged in (with that input selected) to see if the problem goes away.
