I've decided to purchase a 19" LCD. (No widescreen, I need max pure real estate since I program). It's been a looooooong time since I've had to look at monitors and have never even looked at LCDs. I saw there was a thread on features which looks very informative, but what about brands?

I don't want a MAG that dies in a year or a Sony that's twice the price for the same thing as a Samsung. Or something like that. I also don't want to blow a huge amount. I'm willing to pay whatever it takes, but consider if it was a car it would be a Honda. Reliable, good performance, decent price (but more costly then a Hyundai) but not the all out blowout of an Acura or Lexus. I don't want to spend 50% more to get 2% more. What would be that equivalent in LCDs nowdays?

Thanks for any help.

If you're going w/ a 19" LCD, I definately recomend the Viewsonic VX922: 2ms response time, decent contrast, I got one and I have no issues w/ it whatsoever (other than the fact that I want a 24", but oh well). And if you have something hitched into the VGA port (an XBox 360 in my case) all you have to do is push the "2" button on the front and it automaticly switches over, you don't have to fiddle around in the menu or anything (like on my friend's Acer, pain in the butt). No ghosting, minimal blacklight bleed (only on the edges w/ an all black screen), and really good customer service (rep told me they will replace it even w/ one dead pixel, but only with a refirb, but hey: shows you how caring they are).

Samsung for sure! LQQk for something w/ component input for max versatility.

Viewsonic VX922, quickest response time. I own one and love it.
