View Full Version : Help New monitor
I'm currently on a 19" LCD panel which is nice but...I want something more impressive.
My rig is in signature. I shouldn't have a problem pushing a higher resolution panel.
But here is where I get torn. Some of these larger(22") displays don't seem to have better resolutions if you consider their specs they have more resolution but just to cover the WS aspect.
What's out there that really gives a wonderful(mostly for gaming) picture and an impressive size without having to spend $1000+.
Also, do most games now support WS format? Does XP handle ws well?
Most of the WS monitors I browsed at the local compusa had Vista on them and looked preet good, but the one I saw that ran XP did not look so good.
The Dell 2407wfp is considered to be an excellent panel. 24" and plays games relatively well. Can usually get them from $650 - $800.
All current games should support wide format. Some may need to be manually configured though.
I have a dell 20" wide screen and have had no problems with XP.
There is a site that is dedicated to wide format gaming, however cannot remember the url for it. Can probably google it.
All my games run WS (few need hacks, most new games run WS fine) and XP handles it great. I highly suggest a WS for your next monitor. I'd look for a 22-24", as a 20" would be about the same as your 19", just a tad shorter and wider.
Viewsonic makes a good 22" wide, and the Dell 24" wide is very popular. Oh and did I mention its on sale for $674?

To not get a WS panel these days is foolish. WS is the new standard.
Ok well give me links to prefered 22" monitors. I don't think I'm willing to go up to the $600+ amount for the 24".
How about something like this Viewsonic?

Console, what do most look for in response time for gaming? I'm not a serious gamer so I don't really know. This NEC I have is advertised at 4ms but it's only 19."

I didn't interpret it as carved in stone yet.
What's out there that really gives a wonderful(mostly for gaming) picture and an impressive size without having to spend $1000+.If you want a monitor with a wonderful picture and have a size that is impressive, a big (at least 21") CRT monitor may meet the want.
