Contrast Ratio

I am looking to get a LCD and wondering how the contrast ratio effects my ability to play games on the LCD.

I seen 800:1 listed all the way up to 2000:1.

Can I get 800:1 and play games smoothly, or will I need the higher contrast ratio?

I would say any ratio above 700:1 is ok for gaming.
