Hey everyone. I'm not sure if this is the right place for a tv card question, so if not, please move it to the correct board. Recently, my mom pulled out some old school tapes of when my siblings and I were young and she wants me to convert the VHS to DVD. I know I will need a tv card since I do not have VIVO on my video card. I have a 7800gt but I only have outputs. No inputs. My question is what tv card should i look into getting? I don't want something really expensive...just something to get the job done with good quality. I also need to know what software I would need to do the job. I figured that when u convert the VHS, the program will convert the file to mpeg or avi. Then I need a program to convert an avi file to an image file like an .iso or something. What is the easiest way of doing it and what do i need to hook up to the computer...well besides the VCR...i need a red and white audio cable and a yellow video? Thanks for the help! It's really appreciated.

almost any tv tuner card will work as this is almost the most basic thing that they do. All that you would need to do is buy a card that has rca inputs, install the provided software, and capture the file to your hard drive using the provided software. For converting avi to iso you would need to use a third party program to do it.

go look around for a tuner in your price range and then post it in this thread it should be easy to tell if it would do the job or not.

I use the Avermedia UltraTV 1500MCE for that, i highly recommend it.
