I have a x1300XT graphics card and I'm running MCE 2005, and just wanted to hear peoples thoughts... I have the upmost respect to everyone who's tempted to recommend using FFDSHOW but as long as it still doesn't work with MCE 2005 I'm going to pass for the moment. Currently I use PowerDVD, I was wondering if anyone thought there was a better decoder out there? I actually like pure video just because it comes with out a player and seeing as my sound is just SPIDF anyway it's a pretty cost effective option for me. But maybe someone can help me with another question I have here as well, When I use Cyberlink's software the option to enable hardware acceleration is there plan as day, but if I go into Cyberlink's settings within Media Center there is no option to set hardware acceleration... is this just another example of Media Center compromising my DVD experience or what is going on there?
What TV are you outputing to? If you have an SDTV CRT You probably won't notice a difference either way. I've got PowerDVD outputing to S-Video on my 32" CRT and it looks just fine.

It's not actually a just a 19in LCD right now, hopefully soon to become a 20.1 or 22in widescreen. And for my purposes now I'm not complaining about anything, but I'm getting to the point where I'm considering buying one of these decoders.
i would like to add i like using media player classic to play my dvd's....more so than wmp,qt,divx,or nero showtime....which is my second best.
FFDSHOW will work with MCE so long as WMP is not being used as the default player of video files. When using Theatertek, ZoomPlayer, PowerDVD, etc., FFDSHOW will work.

this is correct.... although for ffdshow media player classic is best IMO... and for a high res lcd display that your using (even if its 19inches) ffdshow along with ati AVIVO decoder or nvidias purevideo decoder produces AMAZING picture quality... i really gotta get on my tutorial on MPC + Purevideo + ffdshow.
