Was wondering if anything 'wrong' with using LCD monitors (specifically the Dell 30") at resolutions other than their native res (2560x1600 in this case)??

Do colors, clarity, response time, etc stay the same or do they change? Any downsides to say running the Dell 30" at 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 or something like that?

Clarity goes way down when you run at a non native res.

It will look much worse then the 2407 for example. Most of the 24"ers do non native resolutions very well.

Some LCD screen's need to be at native to show everything perfectly.

But some can be just as clear if you play around with the settings.

My 24" native is 1920 x 1200, but 1680 x 1050, 1280 x 1024, 1440 x 900 look just fine too.

So 24" can do non-native res better... but i kind of wanted something bigger. The 30" Dell is on sale for $1400 cdn now...most likely because the new model is coming out with the 92% gamut...the 27" Dell is more expensive than the 30" on sale (and only $50 cheaper than the 30" at reg price)....

How "not as clear" are talking about here? I'm using a Samsung 32" tv right now with 1360x768 res and I love Windows/internet browsing since i can read everything much better....but oblivion looks a little worse though if it looks worse because of vista os...?

Images and movies will be fine, it's the text you need to worry about
