For about 2 years now I've been eyeing the FW900. 24" Widescreen CRT.
New they were rougly 2300 bucks, and refurbished and used monitors can be purchased for about 400 bucks.
Any of you had experience with these?

I'm getting tired of my 500:1 17" LCD. :(
I've heard SED technology will take quite a while to work it's way down to computer monitors, which is unfortunate. Heard anything different?

This monitor has been talked about A LOT. Just make sure you buy from a good online seller, and be ready to get a BIG box at your front door. :santa:
A cheaper solution is an IBM P275 4:3 CRT monitor for $135 shipped from a lot of places. Mine will do 1920x1440@100hz.
It's big, it's heavy, but it sure is puuuuurty. :bday:

That is pretty, but no widescreen. :(
Are there any other widescreen CRTs out there? I don't care what size. :)
The FW900 is the only one but its an awesome monitor, mine's 5 1/2 years old and still going strong in fact I prefer using it for gaming and movies over my LCD (NEC 20WMGX2).
EDIT: There's 1 other widescreen model but its actually an earlier model called the "W900" (without the F) but dont bother with this one its not even a flatscreen (has the curved screen) has a higher dot pitch and maxes out at a lower resolution (FW900 max = 2304x1440 @ 80hz / W900 = 1920 x 1200 @ 75hz)

Back in the day there were a bunch of "flippable" legal size/spreadsheet (real tall and skinny) displays that flipped would probably be right around widescreen aspect ratios. Most of the ones I ever saw were monochrome though. I love CRTs but as fast as LCDs are getting better, cheaper etc I doubt the lifespan of any CRT will really be that long.
LCDs wont ever have the fluid response & true black levels of a CRT which is the main reasons I still prefer a good CRT over any LCD ive tried. My LCD is great for web browsing / text work tho.
