Can anyone tell me what this is (monitor phase)? It can be set between zero and 100...

What monitor is it on? Are you using VGA on an LCD? I think I remember seeing something like that when using a Dell at my university, but it might not be the same phase shift I was thinking of.

google is your friend, but basically LCDs are all digital and require a clock and phase adjustment when used with analog VGA signals to "sync" the pixels, I don't remember exactly how it works, but basically if the monitor isnt set right you'll have moire and convergence problems, you can download a test patern generator and use that to set it. I have a program called Chekemon or something like that that does all the test patterns which will show a clock or phase problem. using DVI connections eliminates the need to mess with this, and most monitors have an auto calibration system that works quite well built in anyways.
