Snapstream BeyondTV 4.5 review (http://www.missingremote.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=674&Itemid=152)

I'm a BTV user for 2+years now. and I could say it's really one of the best PVR software out there!! if anyone is looking for a PVR software, you gotta give it a try!! ;)

Good review. I never really looked at BeyondTV much and it has a lot of nice features integrated into it that SageTV does not. Most of the features can be added to Sage with plug-ins but they are not easy to install.

Missing Remote also has a review of SageTV 6 Beta (http://www.missingremote.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=488&Itemid=152). The full version is now out and fixed a couple things mentioned in the review.

They both seem like they have their strong points. However, I have seen BeyondTV for $30 after rebates from Frys a couple of times. If you don't mind waiting it is a great deal. I got SageTV on sale for $50, but if BeyondTV would have been on sale for less I probably would have went with it.

"Beyond TV does not support DVB-T/S technology"

http://www.snapstream.com/products/beyondtv/buywiz-final.asp?country=Australia

That takes me out of the equation, actually that means anyone with a dVico Fusion tuner is not supported... lame.

edit: actually after further reading all the dVico digital tuners are supported, though they are all DVB-T/S.

Yeah, my brother's home uses the BTV 4.x....of course i was the one who went to the hassle and pain and all that crap to install 4 comps and network them together using the BTV 4.x/media/etc server...That was not fun! But he hasn't had any problems with BTV itself since "launch day"... :)

Especially cool is the DVD movie plugin...
