I am using an ATI TV Wonder Elite, and about every 1-2 minutes the playback stutters a little bit.

It's running on WinMCE on an AMD Opteron 165 @ 2.7ghz. 1gb RAM @ 200mhz. 160GB main HDD SATA 7200rpm and 400GB secondary HDD SATA 7200rpm. so the system is pretty capable.

does anyone know what could be causing this issue?

update on the issue:

trying to use this a little more... i am completely unable to watch TV with this thing. After about 5 -10 minutes of watching TV, it begins to skip horribly. like a severely scratched CD. i have to re-start media center every 5 - 10 minutes. any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Forgive me...but are you watching "LIVE" TV or playing back "RECORDED" TV?
I am just confused.

what spec is your machine? I believe the tv wonder is a software base tuner card, means it's performance greatly depends on the host cpu. (but if it's your sig's machine, then it shouldn't be any problem at all even for HD)

specs are in first post, and this is what it says on ATI's site:
TV WONDER™ ELITE delivers full hardware MPEG-2 compression

Check your ram usage? How full is your hard drive?

Is it possible for the card to overheat?

well rdrash, i tried those updates you suggested, and installed them per GAR's instructions on XtremeSystems thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=81429

i've been watching TV for about 20 minutes and it has worked great so far! longest i've been able to watch since setting it up! i can't thank you enough for finding that thread.

It is still pretty funny how much of a wrench Dual Cores still throw into the problems. :D

 I am surprised by the wide variety of quirks that can be associated with the DCs myself.

yea, this is the first case i've run into where i actually needed the dual core driver and optimization. it's still running great! i left the TV on all night just to see if it would start skipping and it never did.
