i am thinking about doing it but i dont like the fact that i gotta step down to VGA fron DVI

You would need some serious GPU power to run most games like that though wouldn't you? I could see maybe if you were a CS player or something with a more limited GPU requirement but that set-up would really be pushing your 7800gt to its limit with most modern games.

I guess as long as you think your GPU could handle I say why not?
