I am going to hook my computer up to my new Westinghouse 37" 1080p and I was wondering if it would be worth buying this,

furthermore should I be getting a dvi -> hdmi in order to get the best out of it?
all hdmi and dvi cables will perform the same, there is no difference.
whether or not you need to go dvi -> hdmi depends on what interface your tv supports and what interface your output device supports (you have failed to mention what you are outputting from). DVI/HDMI offers better quality over component, although there is usually very little noticeable difference.
You'd only need a better quality cable if you were going to run long distances, or run past devices that cause a lot of interference (ie: a microwave).

I will be going from my computer (DVI) to my tv (DVI or HDMI). What do you mean by long distances. The cable will be 15 feet long. Is that long enough of a distance to get a better cable. And I believe my speakers and sub are magnetically shielded so interference shouldnt really be a problem
I believe anything under 15 meters is considered non-long distance.
HDMI is replacing DVI as the new standard. Get HDMI.
The advantages I know of are:
-Smaller plug, alot smaller
-New Standard
-HDMI can carry sound as well as video
Then again, it sounded like you were suggesting a converter though, in that case, DVI alone should be good.
While 15' isn't that long a distance, it's long enough that for the few bucks I would get the better cable.
do not get hdmi for running your westy off the vid. card. no advantage to it and you'd be using up the single hdmi port your telly's got. save it for dvd/blueray/whatever.
dvi to dvi will work.
15ft is actually a pretty long run. considering you've probably got all sort of equipment around the telly, not counting the pc. you probably won't notice the difference in pq between the two cables but i'd get the 24awg just to stay on the safe side.

Well I got the HQ stuff. Then I bought banana plugs for all my speakers, then a 4pin male to 6pin female firewire adapter.... they do have good prices over there.
cool.
what amp you've got?

IIRC there signal degradation over DVI cables. It either works or it doesn't.

Amp? I dont have an amp... I have a receiver. I have a Yamaha HTR-5835.
I have 50ft. runs of 24 gauge DVI and no problems so far. I also have the 42 Westy and love it.
