View Full Version : 2x3007WFP fun! 56k BEWARE
I was bored and being as I'm lucky enough to have 2 of these (until tomorrow) I tried the spanning feature of my 8800gtx and got bf2 to run at 5120 x 1600 pixels!!!
Obviously you cant play like this as half of the gun is on 1 side and so on, makes aiming virtually impossible.

Heres a reduced screen grab.

Here's the big one!

I never knew you could span games accross multiple monitors, I just need another 8800gtx and some more 30"ers! Time for a lotto win ;)
Tis a shame the dells are being picked up tomorrow, I had 3 faulty ones then the price came down by £350 and they couldn't give me the refund so I have cancelled the order. I may re-order again after xmas.

oh man, that is awesome :)
Playing a flight sim on those things would be great. Could you try the new FSX demo on those badboys?
I cant believe how fast these 8800gtx's are, I was running 16xAF 4xTAA everything maxed and still rendering 5120x1600 at 40-50fps JUST ASTOUNDING!

Unfortunately I've just packed one of them for collection tomorrow, so I'm back to JUST one for now ;P
wow, that is impressive. I can't believe that would have been playable (from a performance perspective) if it wasn't for the split in the middle.
* creams self*
Thats all I have to say really

holy crap

I bet you don't crave my credit card statement!
If you have a 8800gtx you NEED a 3007FPW to push it, if you have a 3007FPW you GOTTA have an 8800gtx ;) expensive vicious circle
Once I had bought the 3007 my x1800xt really struggled at full res, so I figured I need a 8800gtx to do it full justice :p
I'm now officially skint.

Doesn't BF2 not give you true widescreen benefits? It really just stretches it out (as seen by the oblong "circle")
Do you have CS: source or something? try that in widescreen

Amazing setup.

If you use the command line to force the res, only the menu and HUD gets distorted. All of the level is correct it's just you get the top and bottom cropped off. i.e. you get the same width view but less height compared to 4:3 which is slightly anoying when you're trying to dog fight as it's harder to follow a good pilot.
I couldn't get any steam based game to run when spanning both monitors, anyhow I wouldn't be able to set the res to 5120x1600 without the use of a command line, does HL2 support command line resolution forcing anyhow?

Man , and I was thinking of a pair of 22" would be sweet .... my god man 2X 30" is killer .
Holy nice!
I now have a new dream setup thanks to you :(
And I thought one 3007wfp was fun
Lucky for me the courier didnt turn up and I have the pair for another weekend ;)
FSX demo:
The second screen would only run at a lower res for some reason :(

Lost Coast:
Stretched 2560x1600 over the pair (max res supported in game)

 that is beyond sick
just a memory for me now as I game on my tiny little 22" Syncmaster CRT :(
My 1st screen has gone back to dell and the second one is boxed waiting at work for collection :(
Maybe I will order the replacement on dells next sale (jan?) or maybe get a 24" and wait for the next gen of 30" ers?

Hi Bobtod, I'm a Flight Simulation developer and I've ordered a high-spec PC with a 30" LCD monitor to do some testing with FSX. Before I invest in a second 30" monitor, how tricky was it to get FSX to run across those two monitors at 5120x1600 resolution? If it was a matter of simply editing the fsx.cfg file to force the resolution, that would be a simple solution - however, does FSX see the dual monitors as a single display?
Just hoping you can clarify before I invest the $$ in the second monitor :)

This just proves to me even more that one 8800GTX can easily support 1920x1200 res.

Hi Koorby, I dont think i ever tried to span accross the two in FSX. I did it in other games using the SPAN feature in nview and all the games I tried saw the pair a ONE single display, whether you can get it to do the 5120x1600 resolution is another story. Also FSX ran very slowly for me (25fps) with a single 8800gtx, which seemed rather bad for me as I don't think the graphics looked good at all, maybe it was a driver problem?
Just order another one from Dell and try it, if you don't like it you can send it back for a refund, just tell them it's too big or something.
have fun
