Hmm, the picture seems very soft. What rez is the video image? Is it upscaling a 480p image? What plugs are you using? Have you tried plugging in the computer yet?
I would definitely only use the component inputs if at all possible. The color space is far, FAR better than S-Video or composite.

random thought
is there such a thing as too big of a tv?
im at a dilema
i love this 42"
but when i move into an apartment will there be room to accomadate it?
my parents dont want there 32" soo i can keep it formyself and sell this 42" to my uncle..everything looks sharper on the 32" (obviously) and its alot smaller and easier to carry around
then again, maybe these are crazy thoughts

Wow, it looks so small in the pictues too. I saw it in person when I got my 37" OLEVIA from Micro Center, and it's way bigger than it looks up there ^^
Anyways, nice job dude. How does it do with the 1080i HD signal coming from the box? I havn't had time to hook it up yet.

Just wondering, because my hdbox is at my apartment, and I don't feel like dragging my lcd there to test it since i'm only there for another few weeks...

sorry bro that i missed that Q
i just changed my reciever to 1080i..looks the same as 720p
im still kinda comfused between the two..since this tv has a resolution of 1366x768 when you do anything above 720 isnt it just downscaling to 720 and loosing the progressive scan?

yeah, pretty much. I was moreso wondering if it would accept the 1080i signal.
Does the hd look good though, when compared to your dell moniter? I'm wondering how it's going to stack up to my 2407.
Looks good. I can't wait to get the new TV in my house. I previously had a 46" Samsun DLP from a few years back. With all the moving parts in there I guess something went wrong and it's sitting at the shop right now. :( My dad is getting tired of not having a widescreen and I think he is about ready to purchase a 60" Sony SXRD. I can't wait to see it sitting in the living room. Oh and d, BIGGER IS BETTER!!!

Nice. Keep the 42". I see you're a true OCer too... no sidepanel FTW!

it looks great, but you gotta remember - the dell monitor is alot smaller, so ofcourse it'll look amazingly sharper
but this is practically 2x bigger!
oh and one thing i really LOVE about this tv
the remote's buttons light up!
btw..i gotta say using it as a monitor everything looks awsome! (even though the picture looks like crap lol)

heh, i'm using my 37" as a lcd right now too. I actually got mine to look very clear and sharp with tweaking. Adjusting the "fine tune" and "sharpness" settings will get you clear text, if you don't allready have it.
