Faster Encoding

I am not sure were to post this question. i am this is alright here. When encoding does using a faster cpu making encode faster. Right now i put together a pc for just that, using a 1.2 duron cpu. Would using a faster cpu like a mobile x2500 be faster. Hope i am explaing this right. Thank you

Short answer: Yes. But what your encoding does make a difference. The NetBurst arch (p4) did better at encoding than AMD's offerings. But a mobile xp2500 will be much faster than the duron.

i wopuld also recommend alot of ram and a fast hard drive ... seems to help when im encoding..

Thank you , i am gonna use 512 mbs of memory plus a 7200 rpm hard drive.
