What do you recomend is the minimum number of watts I should have for my new rig. It's going to have dual Xeon 1.7 gHz (already a minimum 400w), not very many fans (maybe 2x120mm) b/c it is watercooled, only 1 or 2 optical drives, and 4-6 SCSI HDD's. I was planning on buying Supermicro's SC760P4 (http://www.supermicro.com/PRODUCT/Chassis/sc760P4.htm) case. Will this be enough, or should I get more power? Also if I do need more power, should I buy a new monolithic psu, or buy another, smaller psu (probably used 300w) and then hook it up in my rig? Thanks in advance.

From my knowledge, i would go with a 500Watt Psu brand name of course. The Scsi drives will take a lot of power and the xeons defenitly will.

I work for Compaq. Our dual 1.7 and 2.0ghz Xeon Evos have 500w power supplies.
