 what's up guys?.
sorry about that question. i've been off the field for a while.
I was considering the VX922, until i saw the reviews. a lot of people say it has very poor darks, screen tearing, etc.
I'm lying when i'm saying, that i'm going to play doom at this time of my life.
But i consider this game like one of the most difficult to calibrate on a monitor, in order to get a good experience. So... if i can get an LCD where D3 feels like inside of an IMAX theater, everything is gonna be fine for me.
:D (ohhh! JK), you get the idea.
thanks a lot in advance.
If you dont mind CRT goto ebay and search for "FW900" ,heres one example result (http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-24-Trinitron-HP-Monitor-A7217A-Xbox-360-GDM-FW900_W0QQitemZ330022751736QQihZ014QQcategoryZ1163 50QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) , you can find these for around $300 or less usually..You're not going to find an LCD that can match the black level details on one of these and they're simply awesome for gaming (24" / 16:10 widescreen aspect)

I found D3 to look fine on my old dell 2405FPW. But that's not in the same price range. But LCD's in general aren't that great for "purest darks" because of the nature of the current technology.
So in that respect a CRT is better.
BUT, I would still go with a decent LCD any day. The weight and size and eyestrain make it a fairly easy choice for me.
EDIT: ut I have heard that FW900 is a great CRT!
A friend of mine bought an LG Flatron 19" L194WT (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7907777&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat81200050032&id=1149206843492), and I was blown away by it. The colors were razor sharp, and the black was really black. So far, gaming performance seems to be great.

those CRTs looks amazing, but i'm from vzla, and won't be able to bring that here.
the weight is massive, i mean, that ass is going to cost me 200$ easy.
---------------
I would love to hear some LCD options.
I do video and photo work, and gaming sometimes too.
watching quicktime HD trailers, is something i do a lot too, and i'm a color accuracy freak. ( i mean, i work with streaming media, video encoding, compression, etc )
Since LCDs are not perfect, i would love to hear some good recommendations from you, based on this info. Keep in mind i need 960 on vertical, at least
unfortunely, i can't spend more than 300$. I know i won't get an amazing combo of "color accuracy, response time, viewing angle" with 300$, but i'm pretty sure it gotta be something decent that could satisfy my needs very well, for this price.
It sounds like i want the cream :bday:, but OCforums Rocks! ( who's afraid to ask something here?) no one.

Theres a big difference between "looking fine" and seeing the actual difference in person , The 2405fpw has fairly poor black level details (when I say details I mean being able to see various shades of grey on the bottom end of the spectrum, not how "black" black looks) When I had a 2405FPW & FW900 side by side the 2405fpw definitely suffered from noticeable "black crush". to give you an idea what I mean here's a post from another 2405fpw user who noted the same issue: Link (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1079774&highlight=2405+black)
The other main issue I had with the 2405fpw is input lag , trust me you dont want any input lag when it comes to fast paced online gaming.. its like having an additional 30-40ms added to your ping , some lcd's dont suffer nearly as bad but the 2405fpw is notorious for it.

I'm sure that there is a huge difference when you put them side by side. But if you don't put them side by side, ignorance is bliss. And I never had any issues with online gaming with my 2405, I'm sure I can find better excuses for being pwned then "my LCD did it"
BUT...this thread isn't about the 2405 and it's performance, because it's way more than $300 ....I was just saying that i was quite happy with my LCD. Sure if I had put it up next to a CRT, I would have seen a great difference in color and black levels, etc. But i didn't. And I was perfectly happy. I could also carry the thing in one arm to take it to LANs and DJ events. Unlike that ~100lb CRT.

The blacks on my Benq FP202W are pretty good. They are for sure better then this old HP CRT from about 1996 that I was using, but then again.....its dead now
