View Full Version : 1080p for LCD TVs < 37"?

Is there any reason, other than market positioning, for having 1080p available only on sets that are 37" and more?
Because unless you are really close to the screen you don't need 1080p on anything smaller. 1080p helps big screens keep a nice picture. Thats why computer monitors are 1080p capable but there are few equal sized televions that are.

Kind of a waste for a smaller screen and the people who would dish out the big 1080p bux, would not want a small screen.

I got a 26" samsung TV that is not LCD and is advertised as 1080p :shrug:

my 17inch lcd is 1080i. dont know the diff between i and p.

Accepting a 1080P input is not the same as displaying a 1080P input pixel-for-pixel...
