View Full Version : Anybody Have BenQ 20.1 Widescreen?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014105
Anyone have this and/or can make commenta bout it beacause im thinkin about buying it...thanx
I bought this as a combo deal ($70 off) along with the $235 AR connect3D x1900xt. It's an awesome screen. I was using a 19" trinitron flatscreen CRT monitor for the past 5 years and games are much more engrosing on the huge widescreen.
It has no bad pixels and just a tiny bit of backlight bleed on the bottom left, which can only be seen when it is displaying black. I find it to be perfect for watching movies as well. I'm not sure it would be such a big difference for you though, since you are coming from a 19" widescreen LCD.
Just a note about the looks. It has a simple, no frills look which I like alot, crappy speakers or silver color are not my thing.
EDIT: just got my 6th star :D
Congratz on your 6th star :) I know its not going to be a huge difference in size, but i want the 20.1 inch size so that i can get 1680 x 1050 (or w/e resolotion those run at lol)

I have it and love it. No problems or concerns with it. I will probably pick up another one at some point and I am trying to get my boss to buy me one for work.

...sighs..I still don't know.. The Samsung name and height adjustment vs. the BenQ pricing..... I was originally not for the Benq because I read from several places, the color isn't as vibrant or w/e as say the samsung so if 30 bucks can get better color and height adjustment... Why not right?

I bit the bullet and ordered one. At $259 after MIR its a steal for this size of a monitor. The samsung looks nice as well, but i Dont really need the height adjustment and I also have a 17" BenQ which i've been using for 2 years now which is great. My dad bought the 20.1" benQ a few months back and he loves it, so i figured why not at this price.

yea, its a great screen. i was considering that agaisnt a sceptre equivilent (it was cheaper at the time) and the sceptre has a higher contrast ratio.
i like it so much that i bought 2.

hmmm...sorry must be me but the angle makes ur system looks crooked. Also, I see you are running a 6600gt. Isn't this a HUGE problem when trying to play games?
Edit. Screw it. I got money. Samsung has been bought.hahaha... Maybe I could have spared an extra 150 for the 2007wfp...nah

yes, my table is probably the least flat peice of poo ever. not even my keyboard sits on it without rocking back and foward. thats what i have it resting on my mousepad.
and the right screen is a few mm lower than the other.
and yes, the 6600 GT is a bit of a bummer when playing games. but theres not much of a performance decrease while dual-screening.
and if im running the correct drivers (x64 84. something) i can get ~60 fps on source with 1680x1050 which i think is amazing. (but thats only with these drivers, if im running any other drivers i get like... 30 less fps, its weird.)
i bought it when it first came out for like 200 bucks, and im going to keep it handy untill i buy a dx10 card.
well this screen will be here today when i get home from school hopefully ill give a small review on it
Its an awesome screen!
I'm using it for a few months now and everytime I look on a screen thats smaller than the BenQ I think, damn! I needed to buy the screen a lot earlier :)
Go for it!
You wont regret it!
Dam it wont be here till tommorow :( If i really like it i might get another :)

I have this monitor. awesome little(well....BIG) screen. gamimg is really nice on it, then again I came off of gaming on a viewsonic LCD with a 30 ms response...ouch! I got mine when it was $299 with the powercolor X800 GTO for $20 combo deal. the X800 GTO died and was replaced by a 7600 GT, which actually outperforms it signifigantly. Gaming at 1680 x 1050 is awesome:beer: .

Gaming at that resolution?
I just got the monitor today btw. W00T!!! It's soooooo beautiful. omfg.
But anyways, I feel scammed. What a kick in the nuts, because I'm pulling barely decent framerates on my x850xt. Where I used to have 50 frames, I've dropped to 30. sighs.... Buying new monitors coerces one to pair it with a new video card. But aside from that, it's so big and colorful and ..wide. and.. wow. My adjectives sure get limited around pretty things.
Just a little update to this thread... Ive had this screen for two months now, and i love it! Colors look great, gaming is great, ect
Only disappointment is that i could have gotten it for 80 bucks cheaper now :(
Its priced at $199.99 at the egg now
