I have a friend who currently has a 21" CRT and is looking at getting that 24" Dell Monitor and is thinking of running dual monitors on his Leadtek 7600GT.

Anyhow he will use the LCD for Gaming (WoW) & then the other for browsing the web while playing. He is curious/worried if this will strain his card to much, and I'm not sure as I've never run dual monitors and do not have that card. he does like to have the resolution cranked up on his desktop & ingame I think it's up there as well.
So will the card above work fine or would you suggest getting a better card?

It will work fine as long as he's not doing anything too intensive on the other screen. Tell him if he does it he'll have to put WoW into Windowed and Maximized mode in order to move the mouse off the gaming screen.
A better card will always help, but not really necessary. It just depends on what resolution and quality he's used to.

I have 2 in SLI and have had no issues with it. If he can afford it I would suggest he either wait a bit and go after the 7900GS that are supposed to be out (or will be soon) or just plain go after a better card.

www.woot.com had a deal selling 7900gs cards for $149 - hence half the people who bought them will be trying to offload them on ebay sometime in the near feature.

i do that (wow on one and 2d desktop on other) at 1280x1024 on two monitors with my 6600gt and there doesn't seem to be any performance diff from a single monitor. i say go ahead as is. if he doesn't like it he can always get another card later if he has sli already but i would say don't worry about it.
