I can't seem to change my refresh rate on my monitor, it won't go any higher than 60hz. It's really bugging me and hurting my eyes a bit, I can see mild flickering on darker objects and it just f***s with my head.

I have (2) Viewsonic VA1912wb's running at 1440x900 with a ATI x700 Pro 256mb card installed. I have the monitor software installed and my video card drives are up to date.

I went into ATI Catalyst Control Center and I tried forcing the refresh rate but to no luck, I couldn't get it to go up to the right resolution after I tried forcing it.

Do I need to look into getting a better video card?

Thanks

Does anyone have any ideas? I tried posting this on another forum without any response aswell.

That's an LCD, it probably will only do 60Hz. Since it's an LCD, you shouldn't be seeing any flickering at any refresh rate, that's a drawback that applies only to crt monitors. If you are seeing flickering, it may be a backlight problem. Try contacting viewsonic support.

hmm well its weird, according to Newegg where I purchased them, it has a Horiz Refresh Rate of 30-82kHz and a Vertical of 50-85Hz. It's a weird problem I guess, its not like omg I hate these monitors but I've noticed it the past week or so, I've had the monitors for a month or two.

Does room lighting have an effect on LCD images? Or is it possible you're getting some interference from a nearby device?

Yah I'm wondering if its interferance from anything, I have some speakers behind my monitor then its just wall. I dont have anything else around it besides my mouse and keyboard.

Try moving it to a differnet spot in the house and plugging it into a differnet circuit (maybe powerline interference).
