How does that monitor stack up? I saw the pixels are .285, isn't that bit large? I've got a Samsung 713v right now and my sister needs a new monitor, her's is dying out. Office Max has the samsung 940BW on sale for $200, is it a good deal? (I want widescreen + 19") Does this monitor have the new stuff thats needed for vista? I'm not planing on vista but I think is was HDCP? It would be a big plus if it has those capabilties, future proofing. 4ms response time isn't that really good? Will my 9550 be able to handle widescreen until I do the whole conroe upgrade?
Sorry for being such a noob on it but I thought I should ask before I made a $200 purchase for myself.
Thanks guys

2.85 is about average for a 19" ws ..
Average dot pitch :
19" 4:3 = 2.94 (1280X1024)
19" 16:10 (widescreen) = 2.85/2.83 (1400X900)
20" 4:3 = 2.75/2.55 (1680X1050) ; a rare few with 1400X900
20" 16:10 (widescreen) = 2.55 (1680X1050)
16.2 million colors = 6bit panel
16.7 million colors = 8bit panel
15 pin connector = analogue
dvi = digital
Choosing an lcd can be a pain in the arse , so Ive listed the basics above .
As far as response time 8ms or better will do ya fine , although as there is no true standard for some specs on lcd's you kinda have to be careful on how a manufacturer presents them ; including warranty policy's (1-3yr/backlights/replacement new or refub/ dead pixel policy)
19" LCD's are on the cheap now-a-days so take your time and do a good search before you buy ,as there are ALOT of choices in the 19"- $200 range .

I too have an 19" Acer (AL1916-ASD) but a 4:3 screen . For the price I paid and being on a VERY tight budget I paid a mear $137 otd (out the door w/Staples rebate and coupons) ; with a full 3year warranty on everything , 8ms and dvi ; I definitly have NO complaints . Picture is clear/sharp text/with good colors/no back light bleeding and is just fine for internet and gaming .
Although I really I wanted a 20" widesceen (coming from a 21" crt) , the $$$ I saved this time around more than made up for it .

Stat-wise, the 940bw stacks up, and after taking a look at it at Best Buy, I can tell you it has a nice picture, and decent viewing angles. The only reason I didn't get it was the size, it seemed a bit small to me. For $200 I don't think you could go wrong with it. Best Buy had it on sale when I was there last week for $229 IIRC. If you don't need a monitor right now though, I'ld suggest saving up a bit more and picking up a bit bigger one. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with my new 21" widescreen.

Thanks guys. I'll look at newegg and such to double check on everything, although this seems to be a good deal.

I hope you didn't buy it yet or you will be sorry!
follow the instructions here (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1090380). You can get it for 140 AR + tax on 200 and you won't have to deal with newegg's horrible dead pixel policy.
