Very subjective question this - also depends on the monitor used.

Some say that text and images looks crisper with DVI, other's cannot tell the difference. I can't say personally but if you have DVI, use it IMO.

I would have to say go DVI. I once got bored, and ran VGA and DVI from the same card to the same monitor, and switched them back and forth, and I could see a hige difference between the two.

I can tell the difference and if you're the type that turns ClearType off, go DVI. Analog will look a bit blurrier

So you mean the choice is Analogue with ClearType or DVI without? Thats not very good is it?

No, that's not what he means. What he meant by that was that you can really tell the difference if you don't use cleartype, but either way, DVI will still be better. I've switched between the two and I use cleartype. I'd say go DVI because it's ever so very slightly nicer. (if you already have the cables) If you don't have a DVI cable, it might not be worth it to go upgrade.

There usually is a difference if the moniter supports both DVI and Analog : DVI usually looks better. However, if the moniter only supports analog it looks about the same as DVI on a different moniter. IMO.

Yeah, if possible, definitely go with the DVI input. You will notice a difference.

I've only used Samsung monitors. But IMO DVI is just easier to use. Analog and DVI look the same, except that with Analog you have to adjust the colors and positioning manually for it to look as good as DVI.

On Samsung monitors there is this "Auto Ajust" feature which syncs up the signal and adjusts the sharpness and colors to look just as good as DVI.

No difference between DVI and Analog. My Xbox 360 outputs Analog VGA and it looks just as good or better than the Component signal.

I run 3 lcds on my systems. All exactly the same Dell monitors (http://www.cambridgecomputershop.co.uk/dell%20monitors.htm)- model Nr 1701FP and believe me when I say that the one running DVI is far better than the ones connected via dsub15.

I personally can not tell the difference, I personally look closer at the specifications and the quality of the monitor than what cables they are running.

I personally think it might make a small difference with regards to a cleaner signal but nothing that is visible

It's the colours that seem to be different. They always seem a lot deeper.. gives a far more vivid picture. The screen with DVI looks to be more like my Apple stuio displayCRT monitor (http://www.computerdisplays.co.uk). I don't know about pictures being sharper as to be honest with you, lcd technology consists of square pixels whereas crt is rounded- hence lcd is always going to be sharper, but I've always found LCDs to be washed out when compared to crt. The DVI connection seems to change that a bit.

When you refer to cleartype, is that refering to the native resolution of the lcd screen? What I mean is that when we run our TFTs at their native/ optimal res, they look crisp, but dropping the resolution makes the picture more fuzzy, as if we've zoomed in/ blown up the picture?
