My Dell 2407FPW arrived on Friday. I was pretty ****ed that they never sent me a tracking number, until the package had already arrived. The box came with a fist-sized hole in the side, but everything inside was alright.
I still find the monitor HUGE, but that's because I've been on an 18" LCD for the past 3 years. I love the feature to switch between inputs, which it has numbered for all 5. I plugged my old computer on the vga, and my new one on the dvi. I know the colors are a bit off, but I'm no expert on color calibration and I lack the tools for it anyways.

The native resolution is 1920 x 1200, so I fired up Half Life 2: Episode One, Far Cry, and Call of Duty 2 to push it. I noticed that there are no dead pixels on it too! The monitor ran nicely, but I noticed a few times where there was some tearing. Either that or my card was slowing down, which I doubt. I don't think I'm one of those people who spot ghosting easily, but so far I have not noticed any.

A few questions for you if you have the time. How heavy is it? Height from the desk to the bottom of the panel and height from the desk to the top of the panel?

Wow...so much desktop space. I'm happy with my 2007WFP, but an extra 4" sure would be nice.....
*smacks self after looking at wallet* I can't get it though :(

I don't have a scale available at the moment, but I'd guess around 10-15 lbs.
When the monitor is at the lowest, it's about 2.25" between desk and bottom of monitor, and about 16.5" from desk to top of monitor.

Thanks fireside. Now I have to figure out how to make this thing fit in my desk.

It's four inches by the height of the monitor, which is awesome.
When you're browsing the internet you can make a browser full height and half width and comfortably fit 100% of whatever page you're viewing on it.
So if I wanted to Google something while posting on here I can open up both browsers and not have them overlap, it's so awesome.

Hmm....I thought it was 4" by the diagonal size of the monitor....Either way, amazing size, but I wouldn't be able to game at all. I'm having a hard time gaming at 1680x1050 with my ancient equipment :P

If you buy it that gives you a good excuse to upgrade!

So, honestly, how's the response time with that beauty? I'm REALLY friggin' sensitive. I can't play games on my 8ms VA912b.

Response time is great for me. I don't think I'm a sensitive type, but I'm still getting top ranks in Battlefield 2. I don't notice any problems besides a slightly lower framerate in some places, because of the high resolution. Honestly, if a great low ms monitor is bothering you, I doubt this will be any better.
The only thing that makes it hard, is its so big. You can't just see the whole screen at once. You need to move your eyes around a bit. I wish I could move it back farther on my desk, but I'm out of room.
Sometimes I just stare at my wallpaper too, cause the resolution's so high. I never saw any 24" monitor instore before, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to be *this* big.

I suppose you could game at 1680x1050 1:1 if looking around is too taxing or drops framerates too much...
mmmmmmmm 2407wfp's...(gurgling noises) DAMNIT!!! thanks man now i need a new keyboad i got drool all over it....
im getting a 2007wfp soon and i thought that was big but WWOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your rig is better than mine, but it's realatively similiar so can you run your games maxxed with that res? I'll expect to run it at a little lower settings - i might get 2gb of RAM soon so that will help also
i still cant get over the size... WOW - that must really pull you into thw game(fills your pripheral vision)

Well I found my first bad news about this. I did notice some banding, but only while watching low quality videos that I downloaded. It's about 1 or 2 horizontal, slightly-lighter lines that slowly move up the screen, similar to a TV with bad tracking. It's hardly noticable though, and I could only see it when I ran a video with resolution 640x480 or smaller in fullscreen mode. This is a stretch though, and people really won't notice the banding if more than a few feet away from the monitor.
The banding issue had no effect on movies from dvds though. As long as the movie is in a high resolution, there will be no problem. Anyways, I'll try to get a picture of it soon, with my revision number.
My other problem is that I can't find a way to run the monitor in limited resolutions. If I try to play a game that only runs resolutions less than native, the monitor automatically stretches it to fit the screen. It shows the option on the monitor settings, but it is not selectable atm. I'd love if any 2405 owners chimed in about how they accomplish this. This is currently ruining my favorite game: Battlefield 2.

when you are at 1920x1200, the option will be grayed out. Start a game, have it go to a lower resolution, then go to IMAGE SETTINGS, and change scaling to 1:1.

I was confused when I saw your background (was the same as mine for quite a while) :D. But back on topic, I would like to give some advise on the "tearing" issue you had. Are you running with Vsync on? I found on my 2005 (20.1" little brother of yours) that I must have it on in order to not be annoyed to death.
Also noxqzs' suggestion is how I get mine to not stretch. Also if you do want it to ever stretch, keep it on "Aspect" so things will at least stay in proportion.
