I can't choose which one to get between these two lcd's.
The gateway i can get for $400+tax from work and the Dell I can get for $390+tax. Difference here is minimal but Gateway only comes with 1 year warranty as opposed to 3 with the dell. Also, People have been complaining about the blacks being way too dark on the gateway making it hard to see some dark images. Coloring banding and gradient issues are something i have heard for both lcd's. It seems the more ppl have the dell, but can't decide.

-will be using it for watching movies and playing games

thanks

I have the 2007WFP with the banding issues, and it's really not as bad as people make it out to be.

However, Dell has already addressed the issue and has revised the monitor to fix the banding issues. I'd say go with the Dell 2007WFP. I've watched movies, played a lot of games, and it does very well. Besides, it's very attractive. I absolutely love it.

i just read some reviews on the viewsonic and it does seem very good
but doesn't it have a problem handling 4:3 ratios?

get the dell - its HDCP compliant which will future-proof it

the viewsonic is almost 500 bucks

and the dell has a long warranty, tons of people have it and love it, and they fixed the color banding on the dell so now it's really amazing

the gateway 2185 has had tooo many damn problems with the DVI blowing out :) at least with the 3 i had myself.

the dell 2007's have fixed some of the issues and should be good to go..

the viewsonic is my 2nd choice over the dell only because of dell's warranty and support.

If you call Dell, ask them if they will give you a coupon or just give you a better price, or just buy a 20% off coupon on Ebay for a dollar or two. I had an expired 20% coupon, told the Dell sales person, and they knocked the price down to $350 shipped for the 2007FPW, that's with 2 day shipping and taxes included. (they didnt apply the coupon, but he just knocked off an extra $65 for me off the $390 price)

Mines coming Tue. :bday:

Your lucky my pc was off for the last two weeks when I left the country. Plus if I see you getting to far ahead of my single folding PC, I will go into my parts closet and put together 2 or 3 more folding systems. If that doesn't work, I will summon my army of folding friends to fold in my name.

http://www.vwvortex.com/zeroforum_graphics/biggrin_upper.gif Well, I suppose I shouldn't boast then....I'd be mutilated if you were able to recruit an army of folders just to take me out, but it'd make me feel pretty good for the time being. Oh, and thanks for leaving the country so I could take advantage:bday:

I have the gateway 2185 and the dell 2005 and imo the gateway is much clearer, I haven't had any problems with the dvi blowing out and I like the software that is bundled with the monitor for adjusting the picture. They also include pivot software, when rotating the monitor the resolution changes with it.

If I ordered the 2007fpw today, will it be the revised edition with the fixed banding?

I want to say the version with the fixed banding is Rev: A02, but I could be mistaken. Mine is A00, but I dont know what happened to A01....

D94 has some good pics in his 2007fpw thread (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=460640)

Just got my 2007FPW few hours ago, the two 21" Crt's I had to move gave me a hernia. One I boxed up and going to give to Goodwill if they will shlep the thing out of my house. The other I will keep as my cat likes to sleep on it :p

Trying to figure out where I find the revision information.

It's on the back of the monitor on the label. For example, lets say you are looking straight at the monitor from the back. It's on the bottom kinda towards the left side. Right underneath the USB ports.

I have to agree, I have used both and the montior that is sitting on my desk right now is the Gateway. I have no problems at all with it. No dark image problems, No DVI trouble, and it is HDCP compliant so don't get confussed from what people are saying here.

I also use the component inputs to play my xbox and PS2 which is grand
