well, the 2 things i wanted to happen happened.

the price for the 2007wfp is under $400

and the color banding has been fixed

i will be getting one soon, over the next few weeks i hope.

right now i have a 60hz 16ms vga sony monitor, and i notice no ghosting or anything.

he 2007 is dvi with better contrast ratio ect... - does dvi really improve framerates in games that much? i would think so bc the machine doesnt have to convert the rgb signals into digital form.

I'm also jumping from 1280x1024 to 1650x1080 - will my system be able to run oblivion, fear, ect... maxed out at that res?

1. DVI does not improve frame rates. You do not suffer losses of quality caused by converting digital/to analog and back.

2. Good luck running at max settings. You might be able to, but most likely you will have to lower some things. It will look so much better regardless. If you have to, you can run it at 1280*720. My 6800 runs oblivion at that resolution and the 2005 displays it just fine.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've got quite the aging system and I play all my games at 1680x1050. I have to turn down some of the other settings, but it's worth it in my opinion. I absolutely love having a widescreen aspect and being able to see so much.

I know your card isn't ATI and that this isn't the video card section, but it's related enough. I got some Omega drivers to replace the regular drivers that I was running before and it improved my framerates from about 20-25fps to 60-65 fps. I'd say take a look into that to see how it will help you out. Just make sure you run a program like "Driver Cleaner Pro" and follow all the steps in the readme.

yeah ive got driver cleaner pro, i wouldnt get rid of drivers without it - do they make omegas for nvidia cards? If so where can i find them?

i wish i would've gotten ATI because they have so many more features than the nvidias do right now. But I've got what I've got and I'm in no way dissapointed in my card.

EDIT: The omega drivers are older than the nvidia drivers out - wouldn't that slow it down?(the nvida ones are 8 something and the omegas are 6 something)

I just installed them on my brother's GeForce3 and got no preformance increase and a few issues whenever he tried to look at certain parts of maps on games he was playing. Maybe check around the nVidia forum to see what kind of drivers are out there for you. I'm pretty sure there was one specifically for nVidia that really helped out.

im with thefrankling, good luck, the 7800gt is ok, but even with my gfx card on some games allll maxxed out it get as low as 45fps

uh oh, looks like im turning down some stuff - maybe HDR and aa bc 1050x1680 is already a high res and HDR doesnt go too well with nvidia - maybe my hopes r too high? lol

I'd prefer to use a lower resolution with higher graphical settings, but then I'd currently choose an ATI card over an nVidia. ATI can pump out higher quality screens at lower rates, whereas nVidia can pump out more screens at lower qualities IMO.
