SCEPTRE X42GV-Naga Black 42" 1080p LCD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112180)
This one is just little over $2000, but a great TV for the price. As you can see it supports highest definition resolution of 1920x1080 or 1080p so you can use it as a computer monitor as well and be safe in the future once 1080p stuff becomes more acceptable. Rest of the specs are decent for an LCD. Contrast ration could be little higher, but it's not bad. One thing I have heard is that these don't have the best colors but if you can get someone to calibrate it you should be fine and you can do it yourself with a little research.
If you want to spend little less then you can get the same TV that I have in my sig. I got this one a little over 6months and it's an awesome LCD. I did calibrate the picture so it looks better then stock. With my HD receiver over DVI to HDMI input and optical sound, the HD movies just look mind blowing! Xbox360 with VGA (which is a big plus for this TV since not many TV's support it) just looks stunning.
Anyways either one of these TV's should do you just fine, just the matter of how much you want to spend.

I thought the 1080p standard was not finalized yet?

My local Costco has a sale for 1,799. I just don't know about the res. Isnt real HDTV 720 or 1080? That one is 768. How would a pc look on it since i plan on having an HTPC.
