it might, or it will say "this resolution is out of range" and you'll just have to wait for windows to go back to default
If the monitor doesnt support refresh rates above 60 at that resolution, it just wont run them, and if your using something like Catalyst control center or windows' thing that changes resolutions and refresh rates, it usually wont show refreshrates unsupported by your monitor

There's no real need to run an LCD above 60hz unless you are having visual quality issues. LCD's do not have "refresh rates", they are measured by response time, since the whole screen is not refreshed like a CRT. Each individual pixel is changed as required.

oh i'm sorry i didnt know it was an LCD, what i said applies only to CRT's as far as i know

there is a distinct drop in image quality on my LCD if its not at 75 hz, but thats its native rate, though directx and opengl will force it into 60 hz in games If I dont force it to 75hz with rivatuner

the image quality drop if your wondering, looks overall a little fuzzy or blurry, the reason is obvious if you look closely every pixels flicker constantly if at 60hz

I dont know why they do this at 60hz, and I know LCD pixels stay either on or off, unlike a CRT, but Im telling you that at 60hz, on this LCD they ARE flickering

What you might be experiencing is interference from another source. Try moving your monitor away from a wall, to see if the issue goes away at 60hz. My guess is electrical interference.
