I'm looking to get another screen but I'm not sure which is the best to be found in the US. Please provide links if you have suggestions.

Edit: This will be used mostly for gaming. Thanks.

A few years ago Tom's hardware did a nice comparison:

My advise is whatever you decide on, make sure the CRT has a Sony tube. Many makes like IBM and others aside from Sony use a trinitron Sony tube, you want one with one.

If you want a really great crt, get a Sony GDMFW900 24" CRT Monitor

Ebay is a good place to get this, here's a seller that sells them for $224 shipped (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZradrecycling2QQhtZ-1)

Here is Ebay's full listing on Sony 24" GDMFW900's (http://search.ebay.com/24-Sony-monitor_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8QQsatitleZ24Q22Q20SonyQ2 0monitor)

PS, there are some places that still sell this monitor for $2000 (http://price.pricesaving.com/productprice_id_218357_SONY_GDMFW900.htm). On Amazon they run $999 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004YNSR/104-4568981-6489544?v=glance&n=172282)

They charge $20 to ship a 92 lb. monitor, that in itself is a cyber deal...

A friend of mine bought one from him awhile back, it came well packed and in pristine condition, I almost bought one but they ran out of stock at that time, but got more in...

Actually SSS if you read the auction closer they charge you $20 to help you load the monitor into your car, which is pretty weak IMO. They state that the monitors are for local pick-up only.

Still at $199 for a 24" CRT I would be all over that if I lived anywhere near them.

i am so with SS the Sony tubes are the best. If you hurry you may even find one that has not been used or one with very light usage used. Im really sad that Sony stoped making tubes a few years back. LCD's just are not yet on par with CRT's no matter how much money you toss at them.

Your right, I called my friend and the total he paid for shipping was $274, ($199+75 shipping, at the time it was not local pickup only) but still an exceptional deal.

I picked up a 22" (20" viewable) CRT from Azatek.com this past December for $99 plus $50 for shipping. I amver pleased with it. They are currently out of stock on them, but they have a good selection.

This vendor often has IBM and other 21" CRT's with Sony tubes for a decent price, and even better he has the same sales on Ebay with a better price and a better warranty. If I see him list any in the near future, I will post them in this thread or in the Cyber Deals section.

I am using a Dell P1130 as my main monitor, it is a sony-tubed 21" flatscreen. I got it off ebay as a refurb and in the UK at least they can generally be had for £50-80 including postage. It's also got a handy dual-input feature.
