View Full Version : Annoying Green Line on LCD?

I got a 17" Rosewill LCD [R710S], and I noticed that I get a single "fluorecent" green line on the right side of my monitor. I mostly notice it in the top "blue" part of internet explorer, and in the taskbar in windows XP. I also notice it when games are loading [dark screens].

Do y'all think that it's my video card [GeForce 4 MX420], or the lcd itself?

2 weeks old

It's not always green [sometimes black], and it kinda flickers.

Could it be the video card? I swapped it w/ my GF for my Radeon LE, since she doesn't game.

Try a different monitor before exchanging it. It is probably the LCD but you should always try to check with a different display before assuming that it is the new hardware.

I had a similar thing happen. I had one blue line at the bottom of the screen about 3 or 4 pixels above the taskbar. It wasn't there all the time, and it would show up in games etc. When I uninstalled Alcohol 120%, the line went away...Just a thought there.

i'd test the system with another LCD if possible, and put your LCD in a different system.

when i had to RMA my L90D+, it had all started with a green verticle line, and it progressively got VERY much worse

Its the LCD....

At my school everyone gets an IBM lappy, and last year nearly all of the screens of the new models had dead pixel issues where people would get "lines". It got so bad that some people even had large bars going down there screens because so many lines were clumped together. Luckily they were covered by the insurance at no cost however.

I'm not sure what the exact cause is, IMO I think there is a connection issue internally within the LCD that causes it.

I built my cousin a PC, and booted it w/ the LCD. The line was still there, so I guess I'm going to RMA it to newegg.

Heh, had to RMA it to Rosewill. Anyone have any experience with the turn around with these guys? I can't believe my luck with my first LCD.

It can get that way if the lcd gets shaken up enough. Hard to say though since the symptons are peculiar in OP's case. It's usually fixable but it requires purchasing the correct FFC cable and then opening up the monitor to swap it...

An RMA was probably the right way to go OP, G'luck with your new one.

are u running dual nvidias in an sli configuration?

if so, right click desktop, go to Nvidea display > [moniter name] > SLI multi gpu > uncheck load balancing box.

i had the same prob

No way, I have a old GeForce 4 MX420. I've already mailed Rosewill, should have an RMA number today.

I didn't want to start a new thread, since this problem is with the same monitor...... Do y'all think that it's the monitor that causes the display to "flicker" in games EVERYTIME I try anything over 800x600 [during games only]? Is it the video card???
