View Full Version : RCA to VGA
Hello all, hopefully this is the right forum for this.
Does anyone know how well this Dongle would work the Xbox 360 on a VGA monitor.
http://www.national-tech.com/specs/30h1-50200.htm
I would be using it with the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable.
I know there is the XBox 360 VGA cable, but I would also want to use my monitor for the PS3 as well, or for my DVD player.
To top it off this dongle is only $4 which is a hell of a lot cheaper then the Xbox 360 VGA cable.
Just looking to see what you guys think of it, and if there would be a loss in in video quality in using the Dongle.
P.S monitor I would be using this with http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16824112176
seems like it would be fine, but this does raise some concern
"This cable is not designed to connect a VGA output from a PC to the component video input on a TV or a component video output from any video device to the VGA input on a monitor."

OP if your monitor is capable of sync-on-green (SOG) then you might pull it off, i'd research it first before buying that cable...

I'm not sure what the 360's ouput is (if it's component...NOT composite which is commonly reffered to as RCA...just want to make sure what your talking about)...
If your 360 outputs component (RGB) then using that adapter to VGA will work fine
If it has 1 yellow, then red and white for audio, then no, it won't work

I ask becasue i'm nearly positive that you can't run that sceptre LCD with three component wires leading into it, regardless if it has a vga end connector.
Or does none of that come into play here? (please excuse my fuzzy memory on the topic)
Somebody please clear this up! :P
Well I asked around and was told a cable like this wouldn't work with the Xbox360, since it outputs in Component and not RGB. I looked at other options and ordered a HD VGA Transcoder from http://www.x2vga.com/
This will support games and devices that use 480p, 720p, or 1080i resolutions.
