well, i know almost nothing about monitors, just a little bit about response time and all that stuff(i just read the sticky)

but i need to upgrade my monitor soon because the one on my mom's PC is about 10 yrs old and its about to blow up

so she wants the one that i have now, which is just an excuse for me to upgrade. :]

What's a good size for gaming? (i was thinking 19 inches because i dont want it to be hard to scan the screen ect...)

what are some good brands?

any help is appreciated thanks

I just went through this whole fiasco as well. I just bought my first LCD for my gaming computer. Ultimately I got the ViewSonic 19" VX924. When watching video on it, it isn't that great, but it is excellent for gaming so far. From what most of my reasearch the past couple weeks has shown me is that ViewSonic is a good brand, as is Hyndai (sp?), some Samsung, and one or two NEC's. Hope this helps.

NEC, BenQ, Viewsonic, Dell, and Gateway are generally good brands.

You should be happy with any of these. Pick the cheapest.

I like my Neovo F419G. Cheap, excellent brightness, good response time. (12ms)
