I'm upgrading from a dying 19" CRT. I run a 6800NU unlocked to 16/6, and I do play some newer games... but mostly I play emulators. Lots of NeoGeo, Mame, SNES, etc. I was wondering what a good LCD would be for this? I was initially thinking of going widescreen but I don't know how that would work with my emu's, since they were designed to be run on an old 4:3 TV.

Also, say I get a 19" LCD that has a native res of 1280X1024. To run my NeoGeo games fullscreen, would that work OK or look like crap?

Thanks in advance to my fellow retro gamers for the help.

The Dell widescreens handle a # of different inputs and would put bars around the picture. Display non native resolutions and give you choices to either display at non native using the monitor or your Gpu. They can stretch the display across the screen as well.

I never really liked the Dell monitors, always thought you could do better for the price. But I'm starting to warm up to them: I looked at some monitors recently and compared the OSD options... alot of the cheaper LCD's use the same crappy OSD as my old 19" CRT! So I'm waiting to see what kind of deals I find on some Dell's when the new **07 series comes out... maybe the current models will be cheap.
