I never intended to get a HDTV .... but i got a 34" HDTV as a gift :D its unbranded but since its a gift i dont see reason of whinning or doing complaints ... now being a total noob of audio video i am slightly lost, the first thing i did was to connect it to my laptop to see the display on 34" screen ....

my tv only supports 1024 x 768 :( and the text is very unreadable :( is it normal or what ? what can i do to improve the quality? i had the impression that hdtv's are supposed to be GOD of tv's ?

what is Ypbprb thingie ??? it is supposed to be some kinda cable ? or any normal av cable would do ?

my xbox is connected to my tv right now using a AV cable is there any other way to connect the xbox to my tv so i can enjoy the gaming on hdtv ??

i know these are too many questions but i would appretiate if someone explain them to me :)

thanks

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to improve the quality of the text. In most likelyhood, you are limited by the quality of your tv. But text at 1024x768 on a 34" would still make things look big and blurry.

YpBpRb are component inputs (as oppose to DVI or RCA inputs). They are analog inputs for HDTV signals. You will need component cables to use the inputs. Usually it to connect external DVD players, cable receiver, and even some video cards.

For your xbox, you have to get the component cable hookups. ie: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-GOLD-XBOX-COMPONENT-CABLE-AUDIO-VIDEO-AV-HDTV-1080i_W0QQitemZ8268195060QQcategoryZ41015QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem

When they talk about the quality of HDTV, they are referring to the number of lines of resolution the TV is able to display. Of course, they are comparing TV to TV and not to computer monitor's. So all standard TV has a resolution of 640x480 . Enhance TV has about 852x480 while HDTV has 1024x768 or 1024x1024. So watch a regular TV boardcast on a regular TV does not look nearly as good as watching a HDTV broadcast. It's like comparing Doom 3 on a 640x480 resolution versus 1024x768 resolution. Which do you think will look better?

gotta have the proper outputs\inputs for one.. two you need proper cables to hook it all up... three you have to have tv capable of displaying a good hdtv picture

thanks ... my hdtv supports 1024x768 resolution only :( i was kinda expecting it to go upto 1600x1200 :D but oh well

i had to reduce the resolution along with using microsoft clearfont to improve the display quality ...

YpBpRb quality would be better than our normal AV cables right ?

yes the red\blue\green is better .. but does your lappy truly support that output type ?

no it doesnt :( it have a standard vga out but my main computer have a DVI output via 9800pro i guess that should be able to give a better display than the lappy's crappy built in video card ?

when i increase the default window's font size things are much better i guess moving from 21" it will take some time for me to adjust to 34" ? :)
