My budget is: $1000
I want a pretty large size LCD around 22,23,24 inches and I want it to be an awesome monitor for staring at Windows XP office apps and straight up gaming, Quake 4, COD2, etc. etc.

I need some advice on picking the best LCD I can get my hands on.

Thanks guys,
Dom

The dell 2405fpw...

Dude, you getting a dell!

Seriously, it's an incredible LCD, you can get it for 800-900 with coupoes (maybe less). It has component, composite, Svideo, DVI, and VGA inputs. It has a 4 in 1 card reader (for smart cards and stuff) and 2 USB ports on the side.
I play Farcry, Quake 4, CS:S and I never notice any ghosting or backlighting issues.

Dell doesn't actualy make the panel either, they just make the plastic bezel and stuff.

Maybe I can mod the plastic bezel and erase the dell. lol
I really have to think about this. Dell???

and 2 USB ports on the side.

2 More on the bottom as well.

Well take your time, personally I have been shopping for a year to decide on this one. :) If you find a better lcd at this price with all of these features. Tell us and I will buy one too. LOL

Just tried it out as a tv running off my tivo with composite inputs and its great for that too. We were going to get a LCD tv for the bedroom but now my wife wants this one. lol Its about the same price as an LCD tv of the same size and she can browse the web off it with her laptop laying in bed.

You HAVE looked at the 5 or more other threads on this subject haven't you? I am more surprised you even had to ask :)

Check out all the people that have them. Their likes and dislikes. And especially their screen shots.

I just for the ACER AL2416W a couple weeks ago. I purchased it over the Dell simple because I didn't like what I read about the Dells. No, my opinion doesn't matter about where and what I read. Throw is some frustrated Dell XPS laptop repair and I've sworn off Dell...

Anyway, at $929 from newegg, I picked it simply based on price. The only issue I was concerned about with the others including the Dell is dead pixels and you can play dead pixel russian roulette with any of the vendors.

I am extremely pleased with this LCD panel. No dead pixels, brightest out fo the bunch and smooth!

Only drawback to it? I had to purchase 2 7800GTXs to run in SLI mode so I could run Fear at 1920x1200 maximum settings.. :D
