So my friend bought one of these to replace his 2405.
The thing is that his PC was a Athlon XP mobile 2500 with a some old nvidia gpu so he could not get it to work properly.
He suggested that we take it my house to test it out on my pc...I really didnt want to because well...er...
Anyways, we hooked it up and got it running at native resolution...then it hit me...THIS SCREEN IS HUGE!!!!! I mean like HUGE :attn: :attn: :attn:
I did not try to play any games on it as I think I might have married the monitor so I kept it down to the usual million windows open and seeing how HD looks, etc. The thing is that u really do have to some real distance between u and the monitor or ur gonna break ur neck.
Oh and HD stuff just looks sick...
OK, so I like really really want one but the damn thing only has one DVI port, that means I cannot play my PS2 on it.
I am kind of messed up, what the hell do I do? Its soooo tempting to put the order down having seen it in real life, I think I might have had an orgasm if I saw CSS running using the two gtx's...(shudders).
Havent been this turned on by hardware since I got 4800 :eh?:
PS: Is it ok to get turned on by hardware...er...plastic? :eh?:
EDIT: SOOOO I am like so getting one that it hurts. I need one :eh?:
Anyone know a somewhere cheaper than £1300? Please help me out, I promise I will be a nice person. I am always nice and kind to people...so...take care of me...OK!!!!

Knights of Columbus, you seem to have money to burn my friend!
I'm guessing you were looking on overclockers? The only place your gonna get it for less is from the US, and then you'll run into warranty issues, and you'll need somone to buy it for you and ship it. But you will save hundreds.
I seriously want that panel too, but no way in hell could I afford it, this measly 20.1" 2005fpw is showing it's age after only a few months!
You seem to have more than enough power to run the screen, i'd collapse if I saw CS:S at 2560 x 1600, I mean damnnnnnnnn!
If you want it that much, I say go for the £1300!
:D

OK...so what if it only has DVI and not sooo great at playing back dvds from what I have heard...just image...even my big eyes are going to have to the gym to get use to this beast.
Thats my reason...sorry I am trying to justify a reason to buy this to myself...
I currently wear glasses but next week I will have my eyes lasered so I wont need glasses / contacts ever again. GREAT! My present to myself for not going blind...only thing is that my sis is going to demand my current 2405 to complete her dual 2405 setup...that is sooo unfair.
Oh, and I dont have my money to burn...just my brothers!!! (sometimes having older brothers is like so awesome, u just point and they buy...oh and dont forget the sweet smile...ooooohh...I am sooo evil somtimes its hurts)

You have no idea how much of a battle I am having with myself as to whether I want to buy one Wacom Cintiq 21ux (http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index_21UX.cfm) and keep my current 21" CRT, or two 3007s and a single Intuos3 6x11" tablet.
Choices and Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...
Ya I bought my 2405 in the middle of October...if I had known they were going to be bringing the 30 incher out I would have waited :bang head
I was reading till 3 Am last night about the Westinghouse 37" it really does sound better then the Dell 30 incher. I suggest you look into that. Damn dell selling out with 1 input, its bussiness... can't blame em i guess.

I thought that the Westinghouse 37" doesn't have as high resolution as the 3007.

I would be using this as like a monitor 90% percent of the time. I dont want a TV, there is a reason I got myself a decent pioneer screen.
Ok, so the single dvi is still bugging me. I talked to my one of my friends who knows like nothing about this sort of stuff. She said does the current one not make u happy. I said yes it does, its fine. What does the new one do? (my saliva dripping gave her the answer). She said get the new one and them cry over what u dont like about it before telling everyone its the best thing in the world...good advice. I will but it, then cry over it and then love it.
See its like so simple...so why am I starting to cry now?

I think my brothers are like soooo kool but the thing is, they live in different countries, ones in Japan, the other 2 are located in Europe...most of the time I think.
So, how do u keep ur baby sis happy...buy her what she wants whenever she wants...they earn enough...I can spend enough...[I will wipe that grin off my face now]
I would rather have them here with me though, I dont know anyone apart for my brothers who can make me laugh so much I actually have to hit them really hard so they shut up, otherwise I would die laughing, its like they do it all the time, in the morning...u have to hear them argue about whos getting the green bowl (its my fave bowl, so they are kind of obesses with it). Best one was they played a game of GT4 to decide...by that time, me and my baby sis had eaten (using the green bowl), clean the house, went shopping before they even realised...oooohhhh the look on there faces when they saw that it was 3pm was almost comical. How many people do u know play games from 7am to 3pm just to see who gets to use a bowl? What was even more funny was that they spent the rest of the evening moping about all depressed because they never did get to use the bowl...it might sound silly but u had see all this happen.
At this moment in time....dell or bros? hmmmm...no brainer...dell all the way, well at least until end of the week then! lol

Tough call....man, I',m really dissapointed in dell, how do they release the 2005 with decent features, goto the 2405 which is incredible....to the 3007 which is sweet but only 1 input?
Hmmm....not even a VGA input? if it did you could run a component to VGA adapter from the PS2.
I'd stick with the 2405 until a later revision of the 30" is releasewd with the features.
Oh and you better have taken a pic of of the 3007 next to your 2405!!!! I've been waiting a long time to see a pic of that!
When I get my lawyers desk (I'm not a lawyer) I want to have a 3007 with 2 2001 side by side (rotated 90 degrees so same height physicaly and via pixels)

There's other monitors with much more options. My Sharp has four input channels each capable of VGA, S-video, Component, and an additional port for DVi input. the large LCD's are the only way to go, once gone, you never turn back. Try running HL2 on a big screen @ 1980 x 1080i, full specs, crank up the surround system, and you'll know where the future of gaming is going!
Shop it well before you make that leap!

Ok, so I just spent best part of 7 hours oogling at the screen, my friends one that is. I was going to place my order but I have changed my mind.
Dont get me wrong, its a brilliant screen and its like huge...oh and the resolution makes me drool when I playing with it...its just the I think the single dvi, I dont think I can live without the other ports. I mean imagine if that port screwed up, i well lost. And its only one input. Looking at my 24 currently, I have my ps2, pc, HD camcorder and camera connected to it all at the same time. Having to connect these in other ways just wont do for me. Plus, I like playing my ps2 on it now, everything is the way it was suppose to be.
I will pass on this one, I will wait until another maker releases at 30" with same specs but more inputs. I dont think dell will ever make a bigger and better version of the 2405 though, its got it all in my eyes for inputs and performance.
