which one? I don't want to go above $300 at ALL. I really want a DVI input to, granted that this monitor should last me the next 3 years. So, which one do you think?
I'll also be getting a used 6800GT AGP off eBay soon for like $200.
I'm more of the "save 'til you can afford the best then buy" kind of buyer. I bought my current Sony 20se in '94, and it still serves me well. So, I'd wait until you can afford a fast 8bit panel like the Viewsonic VP930 or the Samsung 970. But that's just me.
For a $300 19" you're going to either have to take a hit on colour depth or latency. If you're going to play games look for low latency 6bit panels, if you're going to do image editing then look for 8bit panels.
I'm going to guess that you're going to go for a low latency panel, so if your $300 doesn't have to include taxes or shipping then I'd jump on this: $295 - REFURBISHED: SAMSUNG 930BF-BLACK Black 19" 4ms (Gray to Gray) LCD Monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001064R)

I can vouch for #2... great monitor. Search for 'FP91G+' on the forums... you'll like what you find. Even comes with a DVI cable.
Its funny... after doing more research I found an even better monitor. I will be ordering one definatly tonight. Check this out...

Oh, and I have been searching the forums for certian monitor names and what not. Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm pretty set on this one. Any more comments/concerns?
It's widescreen, but you probably realized that. :)

Oh, and I have been searching the forums for certian monitor names and what not. Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm pretty set on this one. Any more comments/concerns? I have it and love it. BTW if you have a costco near you and have a membership they have it there for 299$ The only reason I mention is if you get a bad one, return much quicker and for us CA,TX,NJ ppl no shipping cost, but there is still tax.
I ordered it tonight from buy.com. It was kinda annoying because according to pricegrabber.com, buy.com would have zero shipping charges...
...$12 later for shipping. Ah well, I'm hopeing to have a full review up later this week. Really looking forward to it. On thing I was curious of and I posted this on the widescreengamingforums. Right now I have just a 17" CRT... and under display resolution I dont have an option for 1440X900. It skips right over it and its the default for this Viewsonic. But, according to somebody over there (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2639) my 9800 SHOULD give me the option for 1440X900. We shall see. As I said, hopefully a review will be up later this week.

Normally video cards only show modes that your current monitor can display. Since your current monitor isn't widescreen, your resolution picker won't show any widescreen modes.
When you plug in your new widescreen monitor, you'll probably notice that most of your current available modes disappear, and you get a list of new ones.

Your 9800Pro will be fine. My old GF2MX100 PCI card with newer dets worked fine out of the box no tweaks.
MiniReview...
Ok (finally) got my brand new 19" Widescreen LCD Viewsonic VA1912wb.
Glorious.
Coming from a 17" CRT flat screen that like to flash yellow like a kid having a seziure, I must say that this thing is beautiful. Rich color, plently of real estate, no dead pixels, and just... wow.

Screenshots of replaying HL2 at 1440X900 with the fakefactory cinematic high res pack. Its awesome, and my 9800 can still crank decent frames out (Max everything, Low Shodows, 2X/2X, and full HDR (if it supported it).
