Just bought a new one from a guy on craigslist. It is the latest revision. Mind you, I just fired this thing up on my old computer until I get a dvi kvm for my a8n32 setup up and running. Currently, I am running a 6600gt AGP at 1680X1050 on the desktop with my trusty ol' xp2800. My initial impressions are this thing is awesome with respect to my older NEC 19" brick. I do not see any horrific backlight bleeding after a few hours of net surfing. No dead pixels! It looks spectacular to say the least. I have a 19" at work that I use everyday and have never had any problems with it and didn't think I'd see any with this guy and I am correct thus far. I"ve yet to run any 3d games on this system since it's just a surfing computer. My newer setup I"ll add some second impressions with my 7800gt opty148. So I give this thing a double thumbs up.

hawk-

yeah, I can't wait to start playing. You're right though, it is unfortunate that many game manufacturers don't just add this resolution to their gameplay settings. It shouldn't really be a big deal. Oh yeah, it looks like my setup is similar to yours, albeit you've got the mighty 7800gtx.

yeah i found it takes a few horses under the hood to play some of these games with high detail @ 1680x1050

im trying to sell it atm to buy a dualgpu 7800gt or just a 512mb 7800gtx

So have you played widescreen at 1280 resol'n instead of 1680?

I too am thinking about a matching 7800gt pair. They're cheap enough right now anyhow, it might not be that bad of an idea until some 32pipers or higher come out and then I'll let go of the 7800's in favor of one of those.

Like you's are saying, it takes a fair bit of power to run at 1680x1050.
I hate running at anything other than the native resolution, makes me think i'm missing out.

It took me an hour to find the widescreen hack for NFS Most Wanted. And my system struggles to run at 1680x1050 in that game, so i've had to reduce it to 1440x900.

CS:S runs grand at 1680x1050, although I feel that the whole extra field of few doesn't help that much at all.
Fantastic screen.

Although, do either of you think, that the 20.1" just isn't big enough to hold the widescreen aspect? I mean, it is a big panel, but after having it for months on end now, I can't help but feel it shouold be that bit bigger, maybe 22" or 23". Sure it would bump up the price, but I think the starting size for widescreens should be at least 22".

Just my two cents.

Well, since I just started using this awesome screen, I couldn't think of getting a bigger one, that is of course if I had a better combo card setup. It's night and day from my older 19" crt. I love it the way it is. Who knows two years down the line, it might seem like a 15incher and I'll then want a 24 or 30incher. OH and actually it's A03 revision, not A02. Didnt' know I wrote it wrong.

:) You know its funny, on my new Viewsonic 19WS LCD, I run all my games at 1280x768 native is 1440-900. At native everything is fine in 3d, but things looks very bland and I have issues with AA even though is maxed at 6. But I think it has to do with refresh rate at 1280 its runs 85 and it shows and at 1440 it runs at 60 and you can tell. At 1280 it has this soft look to it and really just makes things smooth and just as crisp as 1440-900.
