What's the lowest the 2005fpw has gone with all the coupons? And when can we expect the next time it will go down?

I think it was around 350. The coopins come out around the end of the quarter usually to boost Dells stats. I dont know when it is though. Soon I hope, unless I can find a bit of a deal on the Gateway FPD2185W

I bought one at $334 + Tax. Came out to $355 for me. That was at the end of November. My first one I think was about $384 + Tax back in January '05.

Whats the ms on the 2005fpw?

16ms I believe is the advertised response time on this panel, but a search of this forum found a lot of people who quote 12ms.
Either way, some people see ghosting on it but many do not.

Neither of mine have any ghosting that I can see. I think the panels themselves are rated for 16ms, but Dell rates it at 12ms. Not sure how that works. Either way, if you do buy one and don't like it, you have like 30 days to return it for a full refund. I think they will even pay return shipping.
I beleive that grey to grey is 12ms and white to black is 16ms. Do not quote me though.. Generally panels post the grey to grey number, which is always lower. Personally I think its a bit of misrepresentation, but thats marketing for you.

Also, if you leave the lcd on for a long time, that won't be a problem, would it?

LCDs can't get burn-in, but they can get a persistent image. If it's going to be on 24/7 then you'll need to use a proper screen saver to protect it.

Most computers nowadays turn the monitor off after X minutes, usually ten. The only time it won't is in something like a 3D game.

You can change if the monitor turns off. I made mine so it didnt cause it was annoying.

If the lcd is active (ie. screen saver on) all the time (24/7/365), the only bad thing I can think of is it'll decrease the life of the backlight. Then again, you'll probably change monitor before that happens.

I think you're right, I saw that before.
Also, there are extremely few reports of ghosting, I think I only read one such report on this forum and that was a from a person that seemed to be particularly susceptible to seeing ghosting on a few LCDs.

OK, I was worried bout the reponse time. But since there are few people that can see ghosting, I hope I'm not one of them. I hope I can get the the 2005fpw around $350 or get one the new Viewsonic. Whichever is cheaper.

whats the difference between those two? isnt burn in an image that is basically burned onto the monitor?
hmm...the gateway has an 8ms grey to grey. I tend to see ghosting so I might look into that one.
i see on dells site there $460 , need 2 of them also!!

I heard the deals would be sometime by February. Or you can wait for the new Viewsonic.

It was commonly believed that deals come out at the end of every quarter, but then Q4 passed at the end of 2005 and there was rarely any good coupons. They MIGHT be coupons and deals when the 3007WFP is more commonly used, or at least when prices start affecting other LCD monitors.
