I have a 2005fpw hooked up to my system in my sig. When i connect it using dvi-d, on the left side there is some sort of distortion, like tiny waves move down vertically from the top to the bottom. When I use the analog connection the distortion dissappears. I have also used a Matrox G550 Pci-e 1x card with DVI-D output to test and it is the same. I switched dvi cables, but its still the same. I'll try a different brand of dvi cable and see if it helps, but Im not sure it'll do much good. What do you all think?

Thanks.

I don't have any of those problems. Maybe you are getting some sort of interferance from something else. Which is strange though because I have 5 speakers around my monitor and tons of cords behind the monitor and I have ZERO distortion. If you cannot resovle the issue you may want to send it back. How long have you had it?

about 3 months.

Can you get a pic or video of it? That might help us out a bit. Have you tried playing with any of the menu settings?

I think this is the 4th time I've answered this on this forum. I think someone at hardocp figured it out to be an issue with the dvi hardware in the monitor and it affects a good number of us. It doesn't seem to affect the vga plug.

Any program that can increase the horizontal refresh can fix it. I use powerstrip. increase the vertical geometry just above 60. I think mine is set at 60.04. It clears up any waves on the screen.

Because my display is perfect besides this issue. Not one dead pixel and a good backlight. Powerstrip fixes the problem so its not a big deal. When you get an RMA on a lcd, Dell sends you a referb rather than fixing your actual monitor. RMA on lcds is a last option.

I'll try that, increase the refrest rate. Yeah and I would not like to RMA it because it a good monitor, no dead or stuck pixels like the previous 2 i sent back to dell. ( within the 21 day period where they'll send you a new monitor for whatever reason)

Hey I messed with the advanced timings in the nvidia control panel. set my refresh rate to 59.880 and sync width to 16 and it cleared up the rolling waves, looks good now. thanks for the help.
