As of right now, I use a typical dsub-dsub connection. However, on the back of my monitor are some BNC connectors. I'm wondering as to whether or not I will actually get any better visual quality by using them. I know there is a topic or two around here, but the information within them is conflicting.

As a side note, I'm wondering if there will be any difference between a DVI-BNC and DSUB-BNC type of connection. As a side note, I do run my monitor at a fairly high resolution (1600x1200).

75Ω BNC is exactly the same as a normal VGA D-sub connector.

Using a DVI-I to 75Ω BNC cable is exactly the same as a DVI-I to VGA D-sub.

I've used the BNC connectors earlier, but ran into problems. Have an ATI card, and if the monitor doesn't send info about itself (max res, max hz) the card defaults to 60Hz.

Fixable but a hassle, so using normal vga.

As for BNC with coax cable, I'll guess the really useful thing is that you can have really long cable for a reasonable cost, compared to high quality vga cables...

I would agree, that is the primary reason. With the BNC, you have much better shielding per channel, and that would definetly increase range.
