picked up a used sony multiscan cpd-g500 21" trinitron locally for $50. wahoo!!!! however, the colors are not right. i've been fiddling with the contrast/brightness, and basically every possible setting the monitor has, to no avail. the black IS NOT BLACK, it's very redish. things seem washed out as well. i'm using a vga to bnc5 cable

maybe the cable is the problem? sadly, i don't have a vga male-to-male cable at the moment, so i can't test out if vga is better.
what's the problem?
