I wouldn't worry about it...

As far as I know, LCD monitors don't experience this burn-in problem. I keep my 2005fpw running 24/7 and have yet to experience this problem.

My advice: watch the panel carefully for the next few days and return it if it does not go away.

Well im sure thats not the only thing burned into your screen if that was up.

Background, any images, boarders, menu bars, etc. With CRT, LCD, or any monitor/viewing device you should not let them sit in one spot for extended periods of time without motion to it. I always set mine for a 20min put my monitors into sleep mode. At least with that it won't be stuck on 1 image for any length of time.

As for it sticking, truely it shouldn't unless the pixels have been damaged. Just get some motion going where the problem is. Play some video's play some games, do something but letting it sit there.

Well you pretty much answered yourself in the question, so I really don't know what other response you were looking for. "should i just try and "shake" up the pixels with some motion?" And the responses you received were such as play some video games, ect ect ect. Basically "shaking" up the pixels with some motion. So I apologize if you were offended by my response however I do not see what else you were looking for. An instant fix? Sorry not going to happen.

I think I saw on another forum where a guy found or made (I don't remember) a white screensaver to bleach the screen. Maybe something like that will fix your problem. I set my screensaver to come on in 10min and to go to standby at 15 or 20 min.

evancold, i dont think its really offensive, its just that its usually frowned upon to leave useless / spam like posts. usually if it dont really provide any info or lead to any, its not a good idea to post it. it seems like the only time nobody says anything is when its a welcome to a new member.

if the post said "dude its a dell" and then went on to give a link or suggestion, i dont think anyone woulda commented. BTW, this isnt intending to be offensive or anything, just hope to be informative so you dont run into it again.

as for the original question, i dont believe LCDs have a problem with burning, my lappy sits every night with the lcd on and stuff, and i havnt seen any burning of the taskbar or anything. you could try something like
http://www.nata2.info/humor/flash/rgb.swf
to cycle all the colors and maybe help get it out. just hope you arent epileptic and have problems from it, that wouldnt be pretty at all.

Though a lot of people won't believe it, LCDs can indeed suffer from ?permanent? image retention. It's very very rare, but it does happen. There have been quite a few cases of people having the ghost of their task bar or icons on there LCDs after long term use without a screen saver or being turned off. I don't know if there is a cure, but if it doesn't go away after watching a few minutes or maybe and hour or so of full motion video then I would say that you should warranty or exchange it if you are still in the return period.

Also, as far as I know that white screen technic is something that is used in plasmas to help eliminate image retention or uneven wear. I don't know if/think it would have any effect on an lcd.
