WHOA. I mean, WHOA. This thing is awesome. I will never enjoy non-widescreen gaming again, I think. lol.

To elaborate, I was actually pretty miffed when I initially hooked it up. The color looked like absolute crap. Once I figured out how to open the menus and get where I wanted to be, I changed the color from the default sRGB settings to my own custom ones ... and that's when I said "Whoa!" It's absolutely gorgeous.

Not a single dead pixel, and I searched and searched for backlight bleeding, and finally thought perhaps there was a little in the upper-left hand corner. Samantha stared at it for about 2 minutes before she said, "Hmm ... MAYBE ..."

Considering that I took both her L90D+'s out of the box, set them up in a bright room, and saw backlight bleeding clearly as soon as I hooked it up, I think part of my brain is just so paranoid that it may be playing a trick on me. And if I have to search THAT hard for backlight bleeding, then it's probably not even there at all, and is definitely not something I could get better than in all likelihood.

I'll take some shots of it with a black screen tonight and look a little more. But games look awesome, movies look awesome, and having a big freakin' screen that sits further away from me and looks so good is awesome.

So in short, I love my new 2405FPW ... and Sam now has LCD monitor envy. :D

Pics please :D.

I am having a hard time choosing between the Dell FPW2005+ 17" LCD or Dell FPW2405 (with maybe a 19" LCD later on).

yup and 2405 is 24" if bliss! glad you like! Also for games, if they have the 16:9 option run that with a 1:1 aspect ratio setting and you'll have an even greater widescreen!

LCD's do not work on refresh rates ( you really are a wannabe j/k) instead they work with response times. I believe the FP2405 has a response time of 16ms from grey to grey.

Most people consider 16ms to be the highest response time you can use without seeing any "ghosting" or smearing. However different people see different things with each monitor.

Actually, the 2405FPW is rated at 21ms from grey-to-grey.

And I still haven't posted pics, because I'm a schmuck and have been too busy playing games to set up the tripod once it gets a little darker in the room to actually take a decent pic.

The 2405FPW is rated at 12ms according to dell's website.

sorry 2405FPW is not 12ms, 16ms to be true

It may not be 12ms white-to-black, but every spec sheet and review I've read says 12ms grey-to-grey. PCMag also found its contrast ratio to be better than it's advertised 500:1 to rating, as well.

6800 enough for this monitor?

it could be on low settings for the newest games. I know with BF2 and HL2 I have to run medium-high settings with no AA/AF to get over 80fps on my 6800 clocked at Ultra speeds.
I'd say low-medium settings the 6800 would work.

HL2 looks great on this with an X800Pro at 4xAA, 4xAF. Not sure how the X800Pro stacks up the 6800 as I don't follow Nvidia much, but I'm happy with a game at 30-40FPS typically and find 50-60 FPS to be very nice, and I haven't noticed any slowdowns while playing.
