i'm thinking about getting a 17" LCD, since i have an old IBM 17" CRT. desktop resolution at 1280x1024 is fine, since i use 1024x768 currently. however i am concerned with the drop in quality in games when not using native LCD resolution.

i'm planning a 3000+, x800np build, and if F.E.A.R or some other game lags at 1280x1024, i want the option to drop the resolution down without sacrificing quality.

please help clear this up for me, cuz i've heard various accounts :eh?:

also, is the Samsung 710N the "go to" buy at this range? i also saw this 8ms NU that had good reviews as well as a viewsonic 8ms

I had a 710N for a while and loved it. Gave it to my wife after I got my 20" widescreen and now she loves the 710N too. She uses it at 1024x768 all the time because she has a wimpy vid card. It looks fine at that resolution, no problem.
