Refurb monitor is green!

I just set up my Trinitron 19" CRT monitor. I bought it refurbished from TigerDirect. And when I booted windows up the usual Black background behind the windows loading bar is GREEN :bang head ! Help. Can this be fixed by adjusting the color settings on the monitor or am I screwed.

Try wiggling the cable around. It could be a loose connection or damaged cable. If so you are unfortunately screwed as reconnecting a new cable is a risky adventure.

Very possible. Down trying to work behind my desk, I've knocked the VGA cable loose a couple times (sometimes I'm either too lazy or just forget there are screws on the thing). It'll appear like the picture is behind a sheet of red/green/blue glass or something. Gives you a bloody heart attack, as no one who has ever seen this happen will think either their monitor or video card are dying. I know it did the first time I saw it ^_^

This happened with a neighbor of mine once with a refurbed monitor, except his was red. I traced it down to a bent pin; it had bent it all the way back into the connector. Straightened it out and he was set.
