I have been searching for the perfect computer monitor for my setup. Right now I am using a Samsung 192T with a VGA adapter for my Xbox and it has another jack for my PC, but when Xbox 360 comes out I need a bit more out of a monitor. The 360 will support resolutions of at least 720p/1080i (about time) and of course that means widescreen as well. I was heavily leaning on a Dell widescreen monitor, but then I realized it may be a lot easier without any adapters and HD scaling for the Dells weird native resolutions. And then HDCP compatibility comes in for direct HDTV. These have driven me to look at some LCD TVs, and after looking around, I'm wondering why people don't even consider them on any forums I've seen. Maybe its just me, but is this not an excellent deal?

Why would something like the Dell 2405fpw be better than this, someone explain, because right now this is what I'm going with. Thanks.

Man thats a great price on that new sammy! 3000:1 contrast ratio for an lcd? I can't find a good review on it yet. But i think i might get the 26" model for $1200. My thinking is the same as yours, the only thing the dell (2405) wide screen has is higher resolution. I'm sure the 2405 would be a great pc monitor, but for overall usage the scaling and filtering of a lcd tv wins hands down for me.

My thoughts exactly radadman! I wish I could find reviews on it as well, but I haven't had any luck with that yet. I still wonder why no one seems to consider these lcd tvs. I think they have PC monitors beat in almost every way, until someone can prove me wrong of course! :p

I agree!! They're so much bigger too. I dont understand why people go out and spend tons of $$ for dual monitors and stuff like that when you can just get one big one for cheap.

The Dells resoultion is much less strange that the other pannels.
1920 is the correct size for 1080i. It just happens to be that the Dell is 16:10 so its also a tad taller. There will be small lines on the top and bottom of a 1080i HD signal. It will be much clearer and sharper than that of the other pannels 768 vertical res. Can't watch 1080i on that, in true HD.
I want an HD TV bad, but refuse to buy one that does not nativtly do 1920x1080 and most LCDs and Plasmas in my price range do not. Untill LCDs come out with a more standard real HD resolution Ill stick with my crappy TV, or maybe go projection.

Well after more research and looking around, I've decided to buy one of those Samsung Lnr-238w's. This LCD TV is actually the same one that will be put in games stores all over the world to demo the Xbox360 when it comes out this winter. I still see no reason to even consider a regular monitor, but to each his own. Oh, and PMS Fishy, though it would be nice to get a native 1080i/p LCD, I'm on a budget anyways, and I've never even seen an HD resolution so 720p native and 1080i scaled will look amazing to me anyway.
