I went to a government surplus auction yesterday and picked up a 22" NEC Multisync FP1370 monitor there for $30 Can. The monitor is in perfect shape except for some light scuffing on the case.

Anyway I am having a really hard time finding a driver for this monitor. Right now the monitor sits at 85hz max refresh but I know according to the specs it can do 112hz at 1280x1024.

Can anyone help me find a driver for this monitor? Or know of a driver that is compatible with this monitor? I checked at NEC's site and they dont have this monitor listed on the driver page.

Hrmmm acording to to NEC Monitors do not use drivers....

Here is the e-mail I received from NEC tec support.

"Monitors do not use drivers as they are driven by the video card. If you are
having problems with low resolutions or colors you most likely need to reinstall
the correct drivers for your video card. If you need an INF file for a graphics
program such as Adobe photo shop I have included a Zip file that contains the
INF file for this monitor."

This is news to me, both my samsung syncmaster and viewsonic P95f B came with a CD that had the monitor driver so that windows could reconize it.

Someone care to explain this to me?

The NEC guy is quite right, monitor's don't actually have drivers. The vid card sends a video signal through the cable to the monitor, that's it.

The file most people call a "driver" is just a list of its supported resolutions and refresh rate settings, which the video card should detect (the monitor sends this info back over its VGA cable to the video card). You just have to find a way to get windows to use the refresh rate you want :D
