well this is on my friend's comp and she somehow managed to get this white box to show up in the middle of her screen which is the only place where she can see her programs. I attached a screenshot of it because my explaination is pretty vague.

Is it always there? It's got to be a CRT monitor right? does it go away with a teboot?

Looks to me like the AOL instant messenger program not responding to be closed. They could try the ole control, alt, delete keys and chose to close it using the "End Process" box under Windows Task Manager.

Ill ask if it shows up on boot. No the instant messenger programs are the only ones she was using and that the only place she can use them. They are like behind the backgroung somehow.
